THE DAIRE DIFFERENCE

DAIRE members receive essential industry knowledge needed to thrive, but the real value lies in the community they become a part of—one that shares experiences and perspectives often missing from traditional real estate environments. Many organizations focus on real estate education, but DAIRE uniquely integrates professional development with a commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion across the industry.

"The Fall 2024 D.C. trek with DAIRE offered incredible insights into the professional world, from hearing inspiring firms to touring hotels, hearing professionals from different sectors of real estate share their experiences. This opportunity deepened my understanding of the real estate industry and strengthened my bonds with club members. DAIRE has been pivotal in my journey, offering mentorship and resources emphasizing diversity and inclusion—values fueling my passion for a career focused on accessibility and representation in real estate."

Kritika Oli, a junior studying City and Regional Urban Planning at Cornell, joined DAIRE this fall. She is the Diversity and Inclusion Chair for the Nepalese Students Association, Alumni Outreach Chair for AAPOC, and a member of Cornell Bhangra, highlighting her dedication to inclusivity and cultural engagement.

WEEK IN THE LIFE

A typical week for a DAIRE member is dynamic and engaging, with a balance of professional development, education, and networking opportunities. Members attend weekly general body meetings, where they participate in workshops and guest speaker events led by industry professionals across various real estate disciplines. In addition to these meetings, members also attend weekly education series sessions, tailored to one of three curriculums based on their experience level. Throughout the month, members have the chance to unwind and build connections through social events, and each semester, they participate in one to two fully funded Career Treks to visit top real estate firms. Being part of DAIRE offers a unique community to gain hands-on experience, build a professional network, and develop the skills needed to stand out in the competitive real estate industry.

CAREER 'TREKS'

Career Treks are professional field trips that provide DAIRE members with the opportunity to visit top real estate firms and connect directly with industry professionals. These fully funded trips, at no cost to members, have included visits to firms such as JLL, BPG, Marriott, Hilton, and Brookfield Properties. Career Treks offer hands-on knowledge, allowing students to deepen their understanding of commercial real estate (CRE) while broadening their expertise. These experiences also foster valuable networking opportunities, giving members the chance to build connections with real estate professionals and gain insights into potential career paths.

EDUCATION SERIES

DAIRE's Education Series is a comprehensive, custom curriculum tailored to provide students with the skills needed to break into the real estate field. It is divided into three phases to support members at different stages of their learning journey. Recognizing that members join with varying levels of real estate knowledge, the Education Series is designed to bridge the gap and equip students with practical, hard skills. It prepares participants to excel in real estate by improving modeling abilities, sharpening investment analysis, and building market and asset knowledge.

NEW MEMBER EDUCATION

The New Member Education Series (NME) spans two semesters and covers essential real estate fundamentals, including concepts, mock interviews, Excel exercises, and a Core Financial Model module with investment analysis and four case studies.

JUNIOR MEMBER EDUCATION

The Junior Member Education Series (JME) focuses on a REIT (Real Estate Investment Trust) presentation, allowing members to apply their foundational knowledge in a collaborative setting.

SENIOR MEMBER EDUCATION

Finally, the Senior Member Education Series challenges members to deliver an asset market pitch, showcasing their advanced understanding of market trends and investment strategies.

SOCIAL EVENTS

At DAIRE, we believe in building more than professional connections. At the core of our values is community. To foster a sense of belonging, we host monthly social events that bring our members together beyond the classroom. From relaxing beach outings on the West Coast to lively indoor bowling tournaments on the East Coast, these gatherings offer members a chance to connect, unwind, and form friendships that go beyond being colleagues. At DAIRE, we are more than an organization—we are a family.
